Speed Mentoring Event - 22nd October, Browns, London
What happens when you put 35 young hopefuls in a room with 9 experienced communications professional mentors? They jostle for the chance to speak to each and every one of the mentors for a precious 10 minutes, that’s what. On a cool autumn evening in October, the HCA's Career Development Workstream, under the watchful eye of lead, Charlotte James (Mundipharma), ran its first event and what a great success it was.
Speed Mentoring, 2015Providing a unique opportunity for young communicators to pose searching questions to managers and directors from both agency and in-house, the evening was filled with the buzz of ambition and enthusiasm as attendees questioned mentors about their own career journeys and asked advice regarding their next move.Charlotte opened the speed mentoring evening with a thank you to the mentors who had given up their time to be with us and impart their wisdom to the mentees. With a mix of young communicators from within agency and in-house, everyone agreed the event was a huge success – providing a great opportunity to network with each other, something they rarely get to do unless lucky enough to attend an awards event. Some quotes from attendees sum up the evening:–
Personal contact with the mentors was invaluable.
The gentleman from Medtronic [Jon Pike] should become a life coach!
Everything was run really well. The mentors had completely different experiences to each other and so each conversation was really valuable.
I found it really interesting speaking with other young professionals who were exactly in the same boat as me. Having 1:1 chats with the mentors was an eye opener. The informal setting was great and I felt at ease.If you would like to get involved with this workstream please contact the HCA Secretariat in order to be put in touch with Charlotte James at Mundipharma International Limited. If you would like to receive regular HCA communications for details of future events and networking opportunities, then please register as an individual member. With grateful thanks to our mentors:–
