  • To provide overall strategic direction for the HCA and guide the focus and functioning of its activities
  • To ensure that the HCA keeps abreast of relevant environmental influences and forges collaboration with relevant third parties where appropriate
  • To ensure that the HCA operates and develops as a not-for-profit organisation, in the best interests of its constituent members, with the aim of achieving collectively what individual member organisations could not alone
  • To represent the varying interests of the Membership at large, both within the organisation and with relevant external bodies

The HCA Executive Committee meets at least quarterly, and more often as necessary to achieve its stated objectives.  During such meetings progress with HCA activities is reviewed versus objectives and amendments agreed as required.  An Annual General Meeting is convened annually in January, when the Executive Committee reviews the strategic directions with the Membership and discusses operational plans. Members of the Executive Committee represent the HCA, and the discipline of healthcare communications, at relevant external industry events and initiatives.
